Case Study: H2Gro

H2Gro is an Australian Retail Hydroponic and Nursery Supplies Store. Since its inception in 2009, H2Gro has expanded its Brisbane based store, to one of Australia’s leading online suppliers of hydroponic and nursery products.

OnePoint were recently approached to give H2Gro a fresh, intuitive design and help streamline the checkout process.

Developed on Joomla 2.5, the existing site response times were unacceptable for an online store in today’s day and age. One of the key issues OnePoint noticed was that Joomla was very memory hungry. This caused the server to exhaust its memory and eventually crashed the site – numerous times.

Along with server memory exhaustion, the website was quite slow on load speed and clicking links felt quite sluggish.

As our E-Commerce Developers will tell you, no online store is the same. While some stores may benefit Bigcommerce, Shopify or even Neto; our team decided to re-develop the site on the WordPress platform and harness the WooCommece shopping cart.

WordPress was the CMS of choice, for three main reasons. The first being the CMS is light and ‘easy’ on server resources. The second being its sheer flexibilty with custom template development, and the third being WooCommerce‘s simple, yet powerful product management features. Rebuilding a fresh, simple template; on a stable CMS with a streamlined checkout process has enabled H2Gro to harness a high-converting online store and attract new customers.

To support the re-build, OnePoint have taken over the hosting with a premium cloud hosting package, powered by Amazon to deliver lightning fast load speeds and superior security.
