Project Launch: Southern Cross Engineering

Southern Cross Engineering comprise of professional engineers and qualified technicians that service the heavy structural, mechanical engineering, saw milling and wood re-processing industries.

The company operates throughout New Zealand, Australia and also handles major projects throughout the Pacific Rim countries, with manufacturing premises in Christchurch, New Zealand.

OnePoint recently developed a recurring maintenance system based off our in-house All Stars ERP system.

Much of SCE’s work involves visiting mine sites, carrying out equipment inspections and repairs as necessary. For each inspection there a different frequencies, with some equipment inspected twice per day (morning and afternoon), some weekdays and some carried out monthly.

Southern Cross Engineering needed a custom system that automatically scheduled the inspections for their technicians.

The new cloud based system allows technicians to login to the app each day and view equipment and sites they need to service. Technicians can now raise repair tasks from their tablets, with the task and inspection results being sent to the office in real time.

Southern Cross Engineering staff can now create custom inspection checklists with an extensive form builder. With safety being an important factor, staff working alone in remote areas have access to a panic button which is incorporated into the app. This panic button immediately alerts the office and/or emergency services with the GPS coordinates of the technician.

OnePoint have worked closely with Southern Cross Engineering to deliver a custom cloud based database solutions for their recurring maintenance procedures. The application design incorporates the bootstrap responsive framework to ensure seamless visibility across desktop, tablet and smartphone devices.
